MLS Collective Bargaining Deal Near?

Via Grant Wahl, the AP expects an announcement on a new 5 year CBA today:

Major League Soccer and its players are near agreement on a five-year contract that would avoid a strike scheduled for next week, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.

The deal was likely to be announced Saturday, the person said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the announcement had not been made.

A conference call is scheduled for 1pm with Don Garber, Bob Foose, and mediator George Cohen. I think we all hope this report is accurate.

[EDIT: You can listen in to the conference call here, or follow @soccerinsider on twitter. Bill Archer and Aaron Stollar will be providing updates at BigEvil.]

"I have already contact the MLS Players Union, and they have agreed to stage a sympathy strike to draw attention to my plight. The MLS Players have vowed not to return to work unless all my outstanding issues are resolved with the Fake Sigi Management."

I think everyone is anxiously awaiting the backstory on the agreement- did Fake Sigi Management cave in to your demands, or did you realize the futility of a strike?
